Jackson County Arts Minutes

Meeting October 18, 2010

Jackson County Arts met at 6:00 on Monday, October 18, 2010. In attendance were Katie Morris, Fred Appelhanz, Linda Brownlow, David Schock, Mary Schock, Suzette McCord-Rogers, and Sarah Devader. Sarah Devader hosted the meeting at Sarah’s Enchanted Cottage.

Old Business
Thank you cards from fair prize recipients were shared. We decided to try meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month instead of the 3rd to see if that works better for our members. Guidelines for member shows were revisited and it was decided that artwork will be checked in at the beginning of the show and non-members will be charged $5 to show. We decided to stick with and enforce the limit of 2 pieces of art per person. Beginning in January, we will institute a $10 annual membership fee to make member guidelines clearer.

New Business
A motion was made and carried for Mary to buy black fabric to use for table covers at shows. At our January meeting, we will elect officers and set a schedule for 2011. We will elect a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and program coordinator (to coordinate activities at meetings.) Sarah is checking to see if we can find a regular meeting location for the new year instead of switching every month. Katie will create an online survey to get feedback from members on meeting time preferences. (You can take the survey athttp://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WJWLCCT) Upcoming meetings: November 8th and December 13th. Both the November and December meetings will be held at Sarah’s Enchanted Cottage to facilitate the program. We set a goal of having a juried show during Glory Days.

Treasurer’s Report
Balance at last meeting was $269.78. $11.00 in donations was collected and $7.00 was spent to enter a scarecrow in the Fall Fest contest to leave a balance of $273.78 cash on hand.

Show and Tell
Katie shared two mixed media artworks.

Program
Wood ornaments were going to be painted as a fundraiser for the new fairgrounds but time ran out. We will paint ornaments at the November and December meetings.
