Jackson County Arts Minutes Meeting June 21, 2010

The meeting started at 6:00 pm at the home of Sandy Studebaker. In attendance were Katie Morris, Carolyn Bell, Marilyn Spiker, Mary Schock, David Schock, Sandra Studebaker, Suzette McCord-Rogers, Alicia VanDerSluis, Gin Fox, and Kathleen Cobb.

Old Business
-The Glory Days Art Show held at the Courthouse was a success and we would like to continue hosting Art shows in concurrence with community events.

-Linscott Park Project- Build week Wednesday June 23-Sundy June 27. Discussed ways to help the design team- donating supplies or volunteering time.

-Continued discussion on events during fair week. Fair books and entry cards for Open Class will need to be picked up from the Extension Office at the Courthouse. We decided to look into a booth at the fair instead of a float in the parade. We would like to have custom coloring sheets designed by our artists for kids to pick up at the booth. To contribute a coloring sheet, create a line drawing with a fair theme on 8 ½ x11 inch paper, trace over the lines with marker, and either mail drawings to Katie Morris (438 Hillcrest Dr., Holton, KS 66436) or scan and email a digital copy to Gin Fox (gfox@oldhamsfarms.com, fox@holtonks.net). Coloring sheet designs need to be received by Gin Fox by July 15th. A working meeting to prepare for the fair booth will be held at Katie Morris’ house, 438 Hillcrest Dr., Holton, KS 66436, on July 12th at 6:00.

Treasurer’s Report
As of May 17, 2010, our balance was $264.28. Expenses of $25 to sponsor a prize for Fine Arts at the fair and $40 for a picket at the park were reported. $7.50 in donations were collected at our meeting. New balance is $206.78.

New Business
After the working meeting on July 12th, the next regular meeting will be held August 16th, 6:00 pm, at Sarah’s Enchanted Cottage.
